Taylor Lauberon is the President of the Institute for Molecular Hydrogen. This is a scientific non-profit organization that develops international standards for the safety and widespread use of hydrogen water, the measurement of the concentration of hydrogen gas (H2) in it, and the use of H2 for medical purposes. Much of his career was spent at Negoya University in Japan, where he graduated and then taught Biochemistry. Here is what he says about the clinical use of hydrogen gas and hydrogen water in the treatment of COVID-19. "This video discusses the pathophysiology of COVID-19 and the rationale for why H2 is being investigated clinically as a potential treatment. Molecular hydrogen (H2 gas) and water enriched with it have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects (1), making them potentially useful for the treatment of COVID-19. Several clinical trials in China are investigating H2 therapy in patients with COVID-19 (2,3). Preliminary results appear very promising (4,5), leading Dr. Zhong Nanshan, the epidemiologist who discovered SARS Coronavirus in 2003, to recommend H2 therapy for the treatment of COVID-19 (6). The latest version of the official guide for the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 from the China National Health Commission includes hydrogen inhalation as a recommendation (7,8,9). However, more research is needed to confirm these positive initial results (see also reference 10,11). There is as yet no clinically published evidence that H2 will indeed be used to treat COVID-19, and this information is for educational purposes only and does not constitute clinical evidence and is not intended to replace the guidance of your treating physician.
